Terms & Conditions

1. Who We Are and What RevisionMaster Does
RevisionMaster is a revision tracking web application designed to help students studying GCSE and iGCSE qualifications. We hold specification points for various subjects and exam boards, allow students to take quizzes to assess their knowledge, and provide personalised revision plans based on their results.
2. Who Can Use RevisionMaster
RevisionMaster is designed for students aged 13 and above. If you are under 13, you must have a parent or guardian create your account on your behalf. If you are aged 13-17, your parent or guardian must read and agree to these terms on your behalf. By creating an account you confirm either that you are 18 or over, or that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms for you.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. You may not share your account with anyone else. You must provide accurate information when registering — particularly your exam board and subject choices, as this affects the quality of revision plans we generate for you. You may delete your account at any time, which will permanently remove all your personal data from our systems within 30 days.
4. Free and Premium Subscriptions
RevisionMaster offers a free tier and a paid premium subscription. Free tier features and limitations are described on our pricing page and may change with notice. Premium subscriptions are billed monthly at £4.99 per month via Paddle (our payment processor). You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by UK consumer law.
5. What Data We Collect
We collect the following data from you: your email address (to create your account and send notifications), your name or chosen display name, the subjects and exam boards you select, your quiz answers and scores, your RAG ratings per specification point, your exam dates, your push notification subscription token (if you enable notifications), and your payment information (processed and stored securely by Paddle — we do not see or store your card details).
6. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: operate your account and provide the RevisionMaster service, serve subtopic quiz questions from published question banks, send you push notifications about your revision schedule (if you have enabled them), improve the accuracy and quality of our features, and comply with our legal obligations.
7. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We share your data with the following third parties who help us operate the service:
- Supabase (database and authentication — data stored in EU data centres)
- Paddle (payment processing — they store your payment details, not us)
- Vercel (web hosting and serverless functions)
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
8. Anonymised and Aggregated Data
RevisionMaster may analyse and sell anonymised, aggregated data insights to third parties including educational publishers, researchers, and education institutions. This data cannot be used to identify you personally. Examples of the type of insights we may sell include: 'students rated specification point X as their most commonly Red-rated topic in AQA Biology' or 'the average quiz score across users for topic group 3 in iGCSE Chemistry is 58%'.
This data has all personal identifiers permanently removed before it leaves our systems. It is grouped with the data of at least 50 other users before any analysis or sale, meaning no individual student's data can be inferred. We will ask for your explicit consent to include your data in these anonymised insights during onboarding. You may withdraw this consent at any time through your account settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect your use of RevisionMaster.
9. Your Rights Under GDPR
As a UK or EEA resident you have the following rights:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to delete your data (right to be forgotten — submit via account settings or email)
- The right to restrict how we process your data
- The right to data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
- The right to object to our processing of your data for legitimate interests, including the anonymised data insights described above
To exercise any of these rights contact us at support@revisionmaster.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. These include encrypted data storage, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), row-level security in our database (each user can only access their own data), and access controls that limit which staff can see user data. No system is perfectly secure — if we become aware of a data breach that affects you, we will notify you and the ICO within 72 hours as required by law.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If your account is inactive for 2 consecutive years with no subscription activity, we will email you to ask if you want to keep the account. If we do not hear back within 60 days, we delete the account and all associated data. You can request deletion at any time regardless of this policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. We will notify you by email and in-app notification of any material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of RevisionMaster after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you may delete your account before the effective date.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
